Celebrating 5 Years of the Collective Hope Coalition | Working together across our community to end hopelessness.
🗓️ Date & Time
Thursday, September 10, 2026 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, Dallas Hope Charities and the Collective Hope Coalition invite you to an evening of reflection, healing, and community action. Our Annual Suicide Prevention Vigil is a safe, inclusive space dedicated to supporting all unhoused youth, with intentional care for LGBTQIA+ young people who face unique challenges. Together, we honor the lives lost, support those on their journey, and build a safer, more compassionate community for everyone.
This year’s theme, Collective Hope, marks 5 years of the Collective Hope Coalition. Beyond working with service providers, this evening highlights how every day community members, allies, and neighbors can come together to foster healing and end youth hopelessness in North Texas.
You are welcome to bring a photo, shirt, or personal item to place at our community remembrance table. Or simply come as you are—your presence matters.
6:00 PM: Gathering, Reflection & Resource Tables
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: Community Speakers & Performances
7:30 PM: Candlelight Vigil & Moment of Silence
8:00 PM: Event Concludes
Are you a spoken word poet, musical act, storyteller, or community advocate? We are inviting community members to grace the stage and share their stories of hope, resilience, and memory.
All performances must be 5 minutes or less and adhere to safe messaging guidelines for suicide prevention.
We are actively seeking local mental health providers, LGBTQIA+ organizations, and supportive vendors to offer resources and support networks during the event. Help us ensure our community has access to vital services.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our events. We need “Hope Dealers” to assist with check-in, set up the candle display, support attendees, and capture event photography.
The Annual Suicide Prevention Vigil is brought to you by the Collective Hope Coalition—a unified network of local organizations, advocates, mental health professionals, and community members working together to end hopelessness in North Texas.
Ending youth suicide and fostering long-term healing requires continuous, collective action. Through the Coalition, members collaborate year-round on community outreach, educational workshops, resource sharing, and life-saving initiatives.
Whether you represent a community organization, a local business, or are an individual passionate about advocacy, there is a place for you in this movement.

With over seven years of experience as a civil engineer, Hector Pietro designs roadways, pedestrian and bike facilities, and stormwater systems that support safety, economic development, and sustainability in the community. In 2024, he was selected to join the Communities Foundation of Texas’s Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy Cohort, which inspired him to pursue a deeper impact in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Hector felt compelled to join an organization dedicated to providing food, shelter, and affirming services to LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness. The mission of Dallas Hope Charities—instilling dignity, stability, and hope—immediately resonated, and he knew he had to be part of it.
Impact and Passion
Hector is excited to serve on the Dallas Hope Charities Board of Directors alongside a group of passionate leaders with deep experience expanding the organization’s reach to LGBTQIA+ youth. He thrives in spaces filled with accomplished, driven individuals and was drawn to the board after reviewing data on DHC’s community impact. He firmly believes that loving those in need while they are learning to love themselves is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen a community.
Fun and Personal Touch
Hector taught himself to decorate sugar cookies using royal icing by watching TikTok videos—and has since become quite skilled, considering each one a miniature, edible work of art.
Favorite Quote: “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill
He hopes to see the Hope Center’s capacity expand and believes that can happen by increasing community awareness about the urgent need for DHC’s services—ultimately inspiring more donors and volunteers to take action. Grateful for the opportunity to serve, Hector is motivated to help drive that growth.
